Alive!
This swamp is alive.
Brambles catching my footsteps,
Thorny pricks in my stride.
Bog fumes fill my lungs
Fueling dark rituals.
Witch culling the flock,
Swamp magic calls.
Left to rot
In the bog,
Demonized
And cast away.
Vengeance
For the wicked,
Feeding on lambs
Led astray.
Witch!
Do not stray
For I await,
Begging for blood,
Praying for death.
I am the demon.
I am your nightmare,
Beckoning you
To your violent sleep.
Condemned.
I am condemned
To decompose,
To rot,
To become
This bog.
Witch!

It visited again,
Quietly creeping in,
Or was it with applause?
Maybe a violent coup.
It stared into my heart,
Through my eyes and nerves.
Bleeding it's putrid stench
Into my heart, into my blood.
Until all at once, I was there again,
But I wasn't really there.
And the people around
Preyed upon me,
Sparing no morsel of dignity,
No shred of catharsis left.
And just as suddenly as it came,
It went again.
And so did I arrive again,
Where I had departed.
The vision of what I must do in my mind.
I'll go to the tallest cliff. I will climb.
Throw myself to the stones.
Break free from this prison my soul.
The summit is within my sight.
I spread my arms to take flight.
Valkyries, hear my call!
Carry me to the halls
Of my fathers before.
Sail me to golden shores.
Fly!
